In most offices you’re lucky if you get 15 minutes with the doctor. That’s barely enough time to scratch the surface, especially if you’re struggling with a long history of chronic back pain. In most offices you’re lucky if you get 15 minutes with the doctor. That’s barely enough time to scratch the surface, especially if you’re struggling with a long history of chronic back pain. That’s why my initial visits can be up to 3 hours long. It sounds like a long time, but it goes by fast when it is filled by a detailed history (I want to hear your story, all of it), a thorough exam that isn’t finished until we have determined what exactly is causing your pain and why, and the formulation of a plan that empowers you to make the changes necessary to significantly improve your pain levels and quality of life.

I am a North Carolina licensed chiropractic physician with 18 years’ experience in clinical practice treating athletes of all ages and levels with a focus on optimizing movement for efficiency, resilience, longevity and injury prevention.

I love solving puzzles, and I agree with Stuart McGill when he says that any clinician who doesn’t keep looking until they have determined the patient’s pain mechanism has no business treating that patient. This is the reason why I have completed extensive training and continue to study the McGill method of examining low back injury mechanics and pain patterns, and treating each individual’s pain based on these findings and on the best available scientific evidence.

More often than not, that treatment starts at home or in the work place with modification of the daily demands on the spine. In-office treatment is not always necessary, and only as a support of the patient’s own efforts.

For those who need it, I offer soft tissue work (Stecco Fascial Manipulation, Barnes Myofascial Release), dry needling, kinesio taping or instrument adjustments. If manual adjustments are needed, I will refer to a regular chiropractor.

In fact, I believe that collaboration between health care professionals is vital for the best patient outcomes, and I will gladly work your existing providers or refer you to the appropriate specialist to help you get better.

While back pain is the focus of Core Movement Lab, I am happy to consult on and treat many other injuries and conditions such as shoulder, wrist, hand, hip, knee or foot pain, sprains, strains, overuse injuries, arthritis etc.

Please note that I do not
- “Crack your back”. This may come as a surprise given my title. I have however over the years had better success achieving lasting results and eliminating patient apprehension and soreness using other methods. Treatments may involve modalities such as instrument adjustments, soft tissue work and taping along with movement instruction, but no high velocity, low amplitude adjustments.
- Want you to have to come back time and time again. My goal is to get rid of my patients in the most loving way, by helping them feel better, so they don’t need me anymore!
- Bill insurance (this includes workers’ compensation and auto accidents).
- Perform disability related, work related or sports physicals.
